Wishes Granted
Thank you for Cherishing Children
This is especially true during the holidays when the need to grant wishes for that extra special gift is the greatest.
It is the generosity of people such as you that allows us to grant the wishes of children for the small yet very important tangible things that will help make their life just a little brighter.
Do you remember when you were little and you thought that if you wished upon the first star you saw at night that your wish would come true? When you blow out the candles on your birthday cake don't you still believe that wishes just may come true?
What do you wish for?
Is it something simple or something grand? Is it something for yourself, your family, or maybe your child? Is it a wish for another, something to benefit the world?
Wishes come in all sizes and shapes.
They come from children and families alike. They come from a poor neighborhood boy who wishes for a new bike. They come from a teen parent who wishes for a Cinderella birthday party for her daughter. They come from a teenager in foster care that wishes to sing a song for the world to hear. They come from a youth in residential care that wishes for a trip to a hair salon. They come from a young man wanting to go to his first high school prom.
Wishes are gifts we can give to another.
Wishes have wings and can travel afar.
Because of your gift a child still believes that wishes do come true. They will continue to wish upon a star and dream big dreams because of you.
Cherish The Children will carry on because of your goodness.
A child thanks you, a family thanks you and Cherish the Children thanks you for making wishes come true!

These children would like to thank you, too:
T.D., 15 years old
Wish: An appointment at a hair salon.
I really appreciate your generosity towards me. I am very grateful and happy about this. My hair really needed to be done. It has been falling out and breaking for a long time and has gotten worse with my pregnancy. I would always literally have to beg someone to do my hair for me. I have always had a very low self esteem because of the way I look. But now I don’t need to hide my head with a hat or bandana any more because of your kindness. Thanks for your help . . . really. Sincerely,
Tanisha, 4 years old
Wish: A pink princess birthday party.
I had my own sparkly princess crown, a pink birthday cake with pink candles, ice cream, lots of pink balloons and I got a pink princess castle too!
D.R., 16 year old girl
Wish: To bring a present to her Mother in prison along with her siblings scattered in different foster homes.
It's people like Cherish the Children and my Social Worker who make a huge difference in the lives of people like me. Just know this, you are all hard workers. I know that a lot of people must depend on you because you never know what you have until it is gone. Thank you.
W.Y., 14 year old boy
Wish: To attend a week of hockey camp.
I wanted to say thank for giving me hope and helping me find a little faith again. I wanted to share this with you:
"Faith is the substance of things hoped for. . .
the evidence of things unseen,
Without faith, we can do nothing. . .
With it, all things are possible."
Tommy, 5 years old
Wish: A big boy bike
WOW! This is the most awesome bike ever. . . Do I really have to wear the helmet?
Liana, 3 years old
Wish: Tickle Me Elmo
Note sent from Liana's Mom- Liana opened her gift and after a stunned silence, she laughed out loud with Elmo and has been hugging him ever since. She won't let Elmo out of her sight! Thank you so much and God Bless.
