We would like to share Cassidy's story of her wish with you because it truly highlights the reason that we feel that the small things CTC can do make such a big difference for abused, neglected and children affected by poverty who take refuge in their dreams because other aspects of their lives are so challenging. . . Wishes come in all shapes and sizes. . .Cassie's Wish:
My name is Cassidy but everyone usually just calls me Cassie. When my social worker was talking to me about starting middle school in a few weeks, I told her that I really didn't want to go. I missed a lot of school last year cause I have to take care of my mom some times when she isn't doing well. Well, the other reason I don't like to go to school is cause my clothes are old and dirty. The other kids sometimes make fun of me. I don't like them. My social worker asked if having some new school clothes would make starting middle school better. She said that she would talk to Cherish the Children and ask for some money to bring me shopping to pick out some new clothes. Wow. New clothes! A week later she brought me to my favorite store, Old Navy and we bought all sorts of stuff. I got new jeans, a dress, socks, a really cool clutch like the other girls have, a few skirts and lots and lots and lots of brand new tops. I even got a sweatshirt! We also picked out a few new clothes for my little sister and brother. We had bags and bags of stuff. And they are all new and they are just for me. I can't wait to start school. I'm not going to start wearing anything I got until the first day of school so everything stays nice. Thank you CTC. I love all the clothes and I really liked picking them out by myself. I'm styling now! Thanks, Cassie P.S. My social worker helped me write this. But I wrote most of it myself. She just helped with some spelling and making the words sound good.
